    Default EGR valve update

Well I installed the last of the restrictor plates for the EGR valve on my 1.9 CDTi (16v). I've had one restrictor plate (EGR to manifold) since November time with no running issues. So I thought I would go all the way and fit the other one for the other side (to restrict the gases that enter the EGR).

Since fitting it I've taken it for a spin up the road and I can definitely say (hand on heart) that there is an improvement in the throttle response, loads more grunt below 1500rpm too

What I will do it keep this up to date with any more changes that may occur along the way. I fancy getting mine on the rollers soon before mapping it to see if there are any changes

    Thanks for reading.

Good to hear that the car is running well. I have also got that first plate installed and found it made a difference. Do you have the part number for the second diamond shaped restrictor ?

    Cheers

Yep you can get them both from Fiat. One is listed as being for the 150 and the other for the 120. If you get both then you can fit the '120' one on the exhaust to EGR side

Vauxhall fit them so that they pass the Euro emissions test when newly built. Only problem is (as we've all noticed) is that it does the inlet manifold no good what so ever

Cheers Parsco, I spoke to a garage about them and said they just 'switch the valve off' as they were causing so many problems.

When you think about it especially in the 150 they are a fairly awkward design for gas flow and allowing the soot to build up.

Gazza, can you give details about the garage that will switch them off, my normal dealer won't but if there is one not too far away, I'll go and visit them.

    Thanks.

This is really starting to anoy me now that I cannot fit even the big plate without the EML straight away!!!..

I have a new Inlet and would love to fit this (both of them) - DAM!

How can I get this sorted as I am sure its related to the Software... grrrr
