Factory subwoofer - retrofit?

Quick Q:

Where is the factory-installed subwoofer fitted? (facelift, CDC40)

Also, is it possible to retro-fit this? (parts list needed please!) The car has the 8-speaker system installed (main and tweeter in each door), with fairly beefy lower front door speakers - but there's a blank where there would normally be a separate slider for the sub-volume on the centre display.

Wife and three kids to ferry about - cannot afford boot space for a custom job.

Subwoofer? No mention of it on the PDF specs for a 2006 facelift model. CDC40 lists 7 speakers only, as does the CD70.

8 speakers are the four doors; mid/bass and tweeter in each, the extra nineth speaker is the centre one in the dash, not and sub.

Here is a sub I had in the Audi hidden behind the wheel arch, the amp is hidden behind the rear quarter. I toyed with the idea of making a box to go in the Vec right cubby hole.

Nice work - what screen did you have for the PS2??? This'd be an option for the OSR boot cubby - although currently I have a fire extinguisher mounted in there. Was that just a random storage bin, or was something more formal planned for the space? I've also added the warning triangle and first aid kit in the other side - they at least have moulded storage spaces provided as part of the support for the rear fuse box and alarm siren.

Am gradually going nuts trying to locate where I saw it referenced - IIRC the whole 'speaker thing' was not as expected, and I was expecting the car to have an odd number. It definitely has 8, and I'm referring back to the centre audio display options when spotting the planned presence of the sub volume control slider in some versions. I've been back through the v1 facelift PDFs to see if I can find it listed - am now scouring for CDC40 specsheets - at this hour... will need to get the owner's manual out and have a check there.

I cut the latest Audi sat nav to fit. I found that if you code it as an A6 you will get the instructions in the instrument cluseter. I found that in most cars you needed to pick up the CAN connection from behind the cluster. I wrote a 40 page guide on the subject and have helped at least 50+ people to do it so far.

I fitted a baffle only set up but it was pants, using a sub and amp from an old Vibe active system. Think you just need to build the box, then go to any decant audio shop with the internal volume of the box and they will give you the correct sub.

Q? How do you replace bulbs?

LOL, you have to pop the trim off. VX failed me on my first MOT for not having orange enough indicator bulbs. They were stock bulbs and they fitted a set without asking and charged me. Bet they got a shock when they opened the hatch up.
