    Angry Aaargh! House sale collapsed.....

Bollox - house back on market - buyer withdrew today; should have been moving a week on Monday - apparently he's left the country. He'd better make sure he has...

I'm destined to be a stranger to my 6wk-old daughter, but at least my other two kids know who I am...

Thx - it's actually the second time it's happened, but the other buyer didn't take us to the expensive times before withdrawing - on a quick estimate I reckon we've binned about £2k, about twice what the emigration expert has committed.

I feel most for the person we were buying from - all of that side was hunky-dory and good to go. She'd even sorted out her next place - rental, paid her deposits and such - so I reckon it's cost her as much or possibly more than us.

Of course, that 'leave the country' Scheiße he was spouting is just that; shyte - I don't expect to see him again, though because of the nature of these things, I do have his address...

It's time for a plan of when you say you are buying you stump up 2k to the solicitor and if you welch the seller gets the 2k as compo.

Not with him, but as the other side was going through, we had got to the point of exchanging on the place we were going to buy. We have just received letters today from one part of the estate agents to say the contracts upwards had been exchanged, but we have our copy to sign still here, so clearly the agents are jumping the gun a bit. I think we were on the brink of being a lot worse off...

Couldn't agree more - I'd go further and say that all costs can be passed onto the person who withdraws (as our seller has just put a deposit down on a new place, pllus booked removals - we were just in time to cancel our company). However, in order to get to that point there'd have to be some sort of legal contract in place - a bit like the Scottish system in fact!

Well, at least it means we can unpack Christmas a few days earlier than we thought...
