First Service

In response to many critical comments about Vx dealers, I thought I'd let you know about my experience this morning.
Vectra 2.2DTi SRi bought from Accrington Garages last February when 11 months old so thought I'd get the first service done (2yrs/30000m) before the Network Q warranty expires.
Eco Flex service done, counter reset to 31000m and service book stamped - no problem!
Now for the good bit - they want to do some warranty work. Front nearside tie rod has play in it apparently and the well-known radiator bushes need to be replaced by the modified ones even though there's none of the banging some of you have reported. It's booked in for next Wednesday.
How long can this good feeling last?

It's not really free though is it... We pay for it when we buy a new car and the garage just claim the money from Vx for the work. So it makes no difference to them who pays, you or Vx, they are still getting paid. So of course they will find work to do.

Still they do sound some what better than many I have delt with that just don't give a hoot.

The 60,000 mile check up may not be so much fun though. The DTI variants quite often have fuel pump problems around the 65K mark. Also the EGR valves tend to get clogged with carbon by then and they tell you you need a new one rather than just cleaning it (difference between 1hrs work max with no new parts and £400 for a new one).

Still while Vx are paying, squeeze every thing you can out of them. Have them check your fuel return lines are the latest Mod so that they don't start to leak on you.

my dealer did the same (i.e. fixed a fault I didnt mention), and not all dealers are naturally going to fix faults to make money from vauxhall, as mines has refused in the past.
