Service Advice Needed....

My Vectra was last serviced at 19,000 miles, and when I bought it, it had 23,000 on the clock. When I pressed the trip counter it showed 15,000 to the next service.........


THEN, I went abroad on business for a week, and when I got back the service light came on. When I press the trip counter it just shows the oil can/spanner icon..The car has only done 24,000 and isn't due a service until June this year (I think, is mine a Vectra C or not?? How can I tell?)

Vauxhall want to book it in for servicing, but I'm reluctant to spend circa £150 just because the service light is faulty.

BTW, the temperature was -7 when the light came on, would that have affected the service interval extreme conditions thingy, and baffled the computer doofer?

Hi Nellsey, the car is 28 months old and it's the 1.8 engine.

think yer outside temp gauge is needing fixed, take it back under warranty and see if that cures the service light as well first before having it serviced.

If it was serviced at 19k then there is definately a fault.

Take it back to a Vx dealer, do not book it in for service and ask them to fix the fault.

I would use another Vx dealer, especially if you explained the situation and they wanted to charge you for another service prior to looking into the problem.

Cheers for the advice mate. I wish my temp gauge was broke, but unfortunatley living in Scotland, -7 is not abnormal.......

I'll take it in on Monday and have them check for a fault.
