Hello, I’ve had a problem with my Vectra since august and I’m in need of desperate help now.
I have a 2008 Vectra C SRi CDTI 150hp. Engine is a Z19DTH. It has 170K miles and has been used for daily driving doing 100 miles a day on motorway and dual carriage way driving.
We have a P0204 code showing - Cylinder 4 open circuit / cylinder. Additionally, we have a stored generic code stating $07E8 Generic.
Early August, we had the Vauxhall engine/electronics light show up. (Car with a spanner through it) it showed randomly every now and again for about a week before this would follow with the check engine light. This was intermittent and go off and on. Roughly a week later the engine was running rough with check engine light on constantly.
Symptoms:
- intermittent Rough idle. (Juddering)
- Struggles up small hills, no more than 30/35mph
- Struggling/almost stalling when pulling away.
- It’s ok at speed or downhill.
- When accelerating hard, a sort of “dust” like smoke comes out of the exhaust, it’s not thick but it’s visible.
I’ve had multiple mechanics say “u need new injectors” but all they are doing is plugging it in and reading the screen.
Had a mechanic friend today come look at it. When starting it seems fine for 5-10mins then started to judder or jolt randomly. He unplugged injector 4 and re-plugged it back in while it was running. When he unplugged it, it created the symptoms I was experiencing of rough idle, when he plugged it back in, it stopped and hasn’t happened since BUT it’s still showing the 2 fault codes mentioned above.
Now, injector 1 and 2 connectors are clean and shiny, however, 3 and 4 have like a brown dusty look inside. I used a brush to clean this as much as possible but had no change.
I used the OBD to look at live data at idle, which is the following:
IAT - 30c
MAF (g/s) - 15.69gs
Load_PCT - 22.7%
ECT - 58c
MAP (kPa) - 104.0
RPM - 850
Quick search says the idle MAF G/S should be 2-7 but my results are equal to what should be shown at 2,500RPM even tho the current results are at idle/850rpm.
This also aligns with fault $07E8 as it states online this is a EGR issue.
What do I do, I don’t want to throw money at a new injector for it to be a wiring issue but where do I look if it’s wiring issue? How do I know if it’s a MAF or EGR issue because them readings are off?
Am I looking at 2 separate issues with P0204 and $07E8? Injector and EGR?
Please help!
