depends on how much NM( torque) the remap commands and puts onto the clutch and pressure plate... but if you have a stage 2 or better map it's best to get a heavier clutch setup. stage 2 usually is just shy of the max NM the OEM clutch can take stage 3 or more will need an uprated clutch.... aka if you only got a remap without supporting hardware chances a standard clutch should be more than enough... but if you are planning on getting a big bump in power, you'd be foolish not to upgrade the clutch at the same time right now, you'll have the engine and box separated so now would be the time to change/upgrade it.

Nah, the OEM clutch can hold about 400 Nm as far i know. It holds on saab engine stage 1 wich is 240 horses very well(same codes for 20net) and 340+Nm. The gearbox safe side is around 400Nm even tho others have pushed it beyond 450-500Nm it usually ends up in a big oil spill and bearings on the road. But the clutch can go out in one ride if u push it, especially at lower speed and led foot.
Conclusion: do the remap, worst thing it can happen is you will cook your clutch and remember that having a sport clutch as a daily ain't fun unless you hit the gym

Got it remapped last year and the clutch started slipping not long after. I bought a new one this week, standard. Never even thought to check if it was good enough but should be after reading the comments

Yep Stage 1 remap is ok on the Z20NET. My old 2004 Z20NET worked fine remapped to 220+ bhp, and lots more smiles to boot.

Yep, the stock figure was officially set at 173bhp, but it was generally believed to be putting out more like 180bhp in standard tune.
