    Default Equipment Levels

Right, perhaps some of you can shed more light on this than the salesman, so, we go in to look at vectra Breeze, on the outside to look at its an SRI with a different badge, inside it looks like an SRI, without some of the equipment,

Thats all fair enough as the SRI is £2K+ more, so we go out and look round the other vectras, LS, Life, Club, SXI, etc. and to my horror the base spec LS, Life, and Clubs (no alloys, fog lights, leather steering wheel, dark tinted lights) have steering wheel audio controls, front armrests and rear air vent ducts despite the Breeze being a higher spec and not having them.

    whats that all about?!?!

I don't think it's anything being a higher spec just a different spec. Vx have supposedly done their research and come up with what people want in certain models.

The LS model is aimed directly at the company car owner and fleet companies.
The Breeze I'm guessing is aimed at the private buyer.

The breeze looks to me to be a 'look at me I'm a pretty' car, while the LS is a 'not much to look at car, but I've got convenient toys'.

    It's only my opinion mate.

things are all a bit wierd in the vectra camp at the minute.

When i got my Sri, a 52 plate, it had a whole load of extras that helped win it the magazines approval for spec levels etc, but now i see the majority of things have become extra cost options., eg auto wipers, dimming mirror, door kerb lights, centre cubby hole, armrest, rear seat cup holder etc etc. I think the only thing standard across the range now is aircon?

I know the breeze is a special edition across the entire vauxhall fleet, maybe that has something to do with it? or maybe Alex has it spot on?

Ah, ok, maybe I should ask my next question then.

whats the chances of me getting a 54 or 05 plate Vec 1.9 CDTI 120bhp 6 speed SXI hatch with less than 10K miles for £10,500??

bearing in mind I'm in Glasgow, cars are cheaper up here, I'll be buying in mid August when dealers will be desperate to sell cars for the new reg, and I'll be buying from a large dealer group.

I think there's every chance of you getting one for that price mate. Just done a quick search for one on the Network Q website and found two. Both were slightly over your desired price but you can always try and knock them down.

The facelift is coming in September/October 2005 so that should help you secure a better deal.
