As its a 1.9cdti, i would be looking for one![]()
I have just got a 2 year no mileage limit warranty from the AA.
Its a 4 star policy called Prestige mechanical breakdown cover.
It seems to cover most things, ceratinly the major stuff.
It costs £519 for two years but I am paying £21.74 a month for it and can stop whenever I like and not pay anymore.
If you sell the car then the warranty can go with it or you can move the policy to another car for a £35 charge.
i have no interest in sellin the car as i want to keep it for anothher 2 years. markt do you have a link to that policy? have you had to claim so far and how easy was it to claim
Its the same as this:
http://www.aawarranty.co.uk/cars_mbi_5star.htm
But its called a Prestige warranty.
Also if the car is less than 60k miles and under 5 years then a claim won't be rejected on the grounds of wear and tear!
Theres a £50 excess and a max of £3000 or the value of the car per claim
A Maximum of 3 claims per year.
I'm with warranty direct and they have just fixed my gear box for me great service
My car just turned 4 years (1 year out of Vx Warranty). Did not bother with extended Warranty. Had 1 £150 bill for wiper linkage replacement so I suppose I am still about quids in for the year (I think). Its a gamble but IMO, I'd rather put the money away in a bank account and take the risk. Having said that, the swirl valves, DMF maybe just around the corner for me!!!!
I'll be buying an extension of my VXL Complete Service Plan when it finishes next July, if it's available (IIRC there's a package to take it to 5 years - need to check though). If not, the AA one gets a lot of good press.
The VX Service Plan doesn't actually equate to good value for money
It pays for either 2 or 4 services, based on 20K miles per year
When I was buying my Vectra I asked how the dealership could extend the original warranty beyond the 3 years 80K miles limit
20K miles extra, which would be used up in just 6 months, was also expensive at near on £400
When enquiring about the extended warranty with VX, they mentioned the Complete Motoring Plan
It is expensive, but includes all the elements of Network Q, original VX warranty, wear and tear cover (exlcuding tyres and exhaust), and VX Service Plan
To take the car from 3 years 60K miles to 4 years 130K miles cost me £800
Given the car has already had three services at £150, with a fourth one also due during the policy, two complete sets of brakes and set of discs, it will pretty much have paid for itself
Warranty is all about your view of risk
Most policies break even or are in the insurers favour
Occasionally one goes pop and they make a loss on it
This will be my third such warrant with VX, both of the previous ones cost them money, and I also expect this one will during 2009
Just seen this. Looks interesting.

Ran a quote through and it comes out at £259 per year for the standard plan on my Vectra. The same price per month (£21ish) as the AA plan I have.
The standard plan also includes wear and tear on covered parts.
Unlimited claims per year max per claim of £3000 with no excess.
You can also use Main dealers.
Can't find what parts are covered though.
