Default VXR / SRI Xp Owners. Jacking point ?

wheres the best place to put a trollery jack on the vec ?

ive got a trolley jack and planning to lift up one corner at a time to clean the arches and alloys properly etc..

Ive heard about people ending up jacking cars by the side skirts and cracking em, so i want to get it right.

if you look on the side sill/shirt you will see a upside triangle, and if you look a bit further umder the car you will soo a black square block, that will be the place to jack the car up

I think the bit on the sill is really designed for jacking with the supplied wind-up jack. For Trolley jacks, it is usually further under the vehicle. If you have the vehicle handbook, it will tell you. If you do not have a handbook, they can be downlaoded FOC from VX website.

Yeah, like the Vauxhall manual tells you anything useful like that.

As Glynn says, the triangular section just behind the arch is the place to jack on the front, rear has a similar section just infront of where the suspension arm meets the subframe. DON'T jack off the rear suspension, it's aluminium and will crumple like....er...aluminium.

If its just a small harlfords type trolley jack it will be fine to use at the jacking points , its more the larger garage type jacks that cause problems

Ok mate you dont use one and I do , what do you do when you get new tyres fitted in a tyre depot....bring out your own jack and tell them to use that.

i use a proper trolly jack on the jacking points never had a problem no funny noises! and there ent plastic aroun the jacking points! y would they put plastic aroun the jacking point to stop the standard jack from slipping? if a 1.5tonne car is slipping under the standard jack then plastic is hardly going to save the day!
