Diesel bleeding

Im looking at removing the inlet manifold and egr as one piece on my 2.2dti to clean them out as they at gunked up.. to do this i need to undo the 4 fuel lines into the head, WILL THIS NEED BLEEDING AFTER???

Ive looked on TIS and it doesnt say to bleed system after but didnt want it to be a given.

If you undo them then I would imagine you do - having read my haynes manual you apparently need a special kit to do it and it's a 4 spanner job. IE, you need 4 Vauxhall spanner monkeys to do it...

Did the same on mine, stripped out the Upper and Lower manifolds.. 2 ways you can bleed it. Either let the fuel pump push the air through until it starts or turn it over with the fuel injector unions loose until diesel comes out then nip up the union one by one. Thats the option i opted for when i did mine.

plasma, turning it over wont burn pump out will it, as far as i can see it wont be running dry, or am i wrong

I seen the spanner monky do this with my engine when the head was done. But he also used a hand bellow type pump for the inital pull through, Changed it over as fast as he could to the filter then started to turn it over. When it never went he opend the union bolts a bit till he seen the fuel leaking out. A few more seconds turning and it fired up. But i must say well worth doing if you know how the pick up after that was amazing.

The diesel should more of less be there right away. Its only if it drains right back to the tank then you should really use the pump to suck it all the way back up. As long as the fuel filter is fully topped up you should be ok.

It is mate the pipe just about fitted into the filter holes. Its tricky to take it off fast and replace the filter pipes.

I suppose you can fit it anwhere on the fuel line i.e the leak off's, Its got to be easer swapping it over on them?

can some one put the pic of right place for pump? It is often need of bleeding diesels.

2.0 and 2.2 dti need to be bleed. if you turn the car over on the starter to bleed air give the starter a rest after a few turns or you will cook the starter and its not cheap. I have even known a garage to burn out the starter. You can buy speacial bleeders on ebay or some good acc shops .
