Default Result.. TOTAL's insurers have paid out!!

Posted a few weeks ago after the all too regular nightmare scenario of fuel nozzle stuck in filler neck at a TOTAL garage. After I was rescued by RAC because I couldn't pull the thing out the plastic has been damaged inside the filler neck. Anyway TOTAL passed it on to their insurers to deal with and the assesor came out and agreed with me. They are going to pay for new neck to be fitted. That's not like my luck coz if I fell into a bucket of breasts I would come out sucking my thumb!!!!

It's a common problem with diesel Vectras
Sit on a forecourt and count them up, at least a few every day

Apparently reading on here it is quite common. Think it's the way VX have designed the neck of the tank. The garage had brand new pumps fitted and the profiles on the underside of the nozzle is similar to right angled triangles. Hence when I pushed it in it has got caught on the plastic rim like a cable tie effect. Will avoid TOTAL in future and will never push fuel nozzle all the way in!!!!

I try not to push the nozzel in too far, in case it might get stuck.

That used to happen to me all the time. Feel like a right plum trying to tug the nozzel out while evryone's watching.

Vauxhall have been fitting most of the diesel range, since 2003, with an anti-splash back collar within the refueling pipe
Sadly it is just the right size to allow the entire refueling nozzle to enter
If you turn the nozzle while refuelling then instead of being directly at right angles it is then at a narrower angle, and it then catches on the lower nozzle clip
To remove it you need to return the nozzle back to the correct angle to disengage, however finding that angle can be fun!
