    Default ipod nano seems dead!

My son's ipod nano seems to have given up the will to live

It was charging fine last night through the docking station but this morning there was no display at all, nothing! Have tried the normal charging method, from USB connection on computer to Ipod using the lead supplied.

So does no display mean a new ipod? Merry Xmas Apple

Oh, it is nearly 3 years old and is used constantly all the time he's awake.

Have you checked Apple's support siter to see if there's a reset procedure for it?

3 years seems about right, its probably just the battery that's died... I'm pretty sure if you take it to apple they'll replace the battery for you, its only a 5 minute job, but it will cost... cant see it being that much really? Thats what they did for my Ipod Video, cant remember how much it was thou.

Oh and to reset it... if it crashed or freezes etc...

Press and hold the middle button and menu button... after holding for a few seconds it should so the Apple logo on the screen and reset...

Thanks guys. I've been on the Apple site for the past hour and tried re-sets, new software etc., but it's still dead. Will make a few enquiries regarding a new battery as when the nano works, it does everything my son wants and hasn't let him down until today.

    Thanks again.

my daughters ipod give up the ghost 2 weeks after the warranty ran out, so bought her a new one for chrimbo.
As it was dead, I thought I would try and abuse it with extremes of heat to try and "reset" the battery, dont know whether it was a coincidence, but it now works????
The most annouing thing with these ( apart from the battery design ), is the itunes system, which will not let you transfer songs from ipod to ipod.

You can set the ipod to behave as an external hard drive - then simply drag the files across to new ipod.

There are some advanced settings in itunes that allow this
