Sticking Auto Box

Hi, Can anyone help. I have a 56 reg Vectra C 2.2 Elite est with a 5sp auto box with manual option. The car generally runs fine, but if I turn slowly onto a steep hill or do a standing hill start the box holds itself in first and wont change up. It only happens on hills so is fluid related perhaps? The only way it will change is by putting it into manual mode and changing gear which it does fine. It seems not to happen if your doing a reasonable speed at the start of the hill. Any ideas welcome thanks.

Straight to the stealers under the 3 year warranty mine was replaced this year and it ain't cheap seriously don't p*ss about get it looked at they are very expensive to replace yourself.

Just had mine replaced on my 06 2.8T Elite due to coolant in the gearbox oil, there was very little indication there was a problem, just noticed that when changing from R to D the pickup was sluggish mainly after reversing off my drive which is very steep so may be similar to your problem.

Mine is currently in for what started off as a leek now get whole new gear box not under warranty 3 weeks out arguing cost with Vauxhall but only got fully diagnosed on Xmas eve so hopefully the will pay something

Mine was 2 months out of warranty and they paid it all have taken extended warranty just in case.
