    Default I've Noticed

Certain ppl only reply to me in the more serious subjects, controversial ones if you like.

I'm very opinionated I admit and I see things how I see them, when I reply I try to cover all the stuff that's been left in previous replies, where as I get pulled up on one of maybe 5 different thing's I've written, I'm actually starting to feel like I'm being goaded a bit at times, so if you like I'll stop posting and we can all discuss wing mirrors instead, this isn't only in response to todays threads, I've felt this way for a while now, I also feel there is a movement to stop threads progressing into other topics by way of relation to the last post, this isn't only here btw but I find it a poor way of doing things, and I'm fed up with having my words twisted in threads, the recent one my point is I want ppl who I hold in high regard home, and the thread now reads that I think the army are sh*t and I want to bomb other countries, neither being true, and one user calling for the thread to shut, ppl who do this are imo afraid of losing or have no reply to the last post, anyway if what I type isn't wanted here please say so and I'll pack it in and find something else to kill time with.

And finally, I have a quality about me, I remember the fallen virtually every day, not just in November, I work with the military lads and try to help them out when they're in a jam, I don't wave flags when it suits me because the news says I should, and although I didn't go in in the end for various reason's I live in a military area and quite often get told things that never appear in the news.

Now, where's our new aircraft carrier's that I said wouldn't get built quite a long time ago?

Barry Island part 2, only this time it ain't steam trains rotting away.

Nah, I don't think there's any problem m8. Just strong opinions on both sides in some of these sensitive subjects.
Don't like when regular users chime in with "Close thread" either - mods decision, and they are generally very good here.

Yeah, your probably right, glad you agree with the closing bit as well though.

A bit of debate never hurt anyone, even when it gets a bit heated - but so what? We're all adults, and if people want to go and sulk cos someone said something then why did they post in the first place.

I've never had a problem with you Ian, or what you post. mainly cos I agree will most of what you say and I can be quite direct too.
Unfortunately, some people are more sensitive and some people shouldn't be let out as they think discussion is an argument that will result in total war.

I say keep going, even if it's just for the comedy value.

Looking at the above, you might get a better response (and be better able to reply in turn) if you sorted out your posting style and grammar.

Without getting all "grammar nazi" about it, your punctuation is terrible. What you've written above is one great big long sentence, which IMO makes your posts hard to read and understand.

(The point of my reply isn't to have a go at you,but to address some of the concerns you've stated.)

VV type away i for one love to read the topics serious and funny ones we all have different opinions some will agree with u some wont i think times are changing and the PC brigade are slowly taking over nearly all forums have rules and if anyone has the time to read them you will find they all nearly identical i find that a lot of my views are the same as yours ( must be our age) and we feel its ok to speak out where others may think we shouldn't.
and as the news on the 2 carriers dont get me started the goverment spend billions on failing banks but can't spend the money in modernising the navy and have an aircraft carrier that we can be proud of.fruit'n'nut may have a point in the grammer bit but as my english grammer is bad i cant comment.

Ian, as has been said above - there's nothing wrong with a good bit of healthy debate and for people to have strong opinions about something. Life would be very boring if we didn't.

However, what you have to consider is where you chose to post these opinions. What I mean is that often there will be a thread started and you'll wade in with a very off-topic slant/rant that takes the original thread somewhat off-topic and down a path that has practically nothing to do with the thread starters original intention. That may irk some people and cause them to repsond the way they do - maybe. I dunno, but worth considering. You know what you can be like after Tuesday evening bender!

But what you have to consider as well is that as you've said you have strong opinions on things, well you have to appreciate that so will other people and they may be opposing views and no matter how much debate goes on, neither party are going to agree on something - a fact of life. Who's right and who's wrong? Well, sometimes one, sometimes the other and sometimes both!

Just because people may strongly disagree with you on something, it doesn't mean they're out to goad you does it? You've got strong opinions so you've got to expect to get some strong opinions back. People may read your posts the wrong way as you've said - equally you may do the same and react accordingly, so something to remember. I don't think anyone is twisting words either - again it's down to one person's interpretation of what has been said. Also as fruit 'n' nut said, often your grammer/punctuation can sometimes make it difficult to fully understand your exact meaning. As he said, and not a go at you at all, but simply something to take into account i.e. how something is typed can be interpreted differently/wrongly depending on the way it's typed. One person will read it one way, another person in a completely different way - as will you, so I don't think (hope not anyway) that people are going out of their way to goad you. You've got to remember that people will give as good as they get.

As has been said above, we don't close threads on a whim simply because somebody has asked/posted (unless it was the thread starter who made the request). If a thread goes into a bit of robust debate then so be it. What will get a thread closed if if posts start to get insulting/personal or if a person keeps taking it off-topic despite being asked not too, although even then it would only usually be their posts that are removed and the thread left open if possible. As you saw, in that thread none of those really happened so it was left open.

I wasn't cracking on about you Duncan tbh, @ Fruit, tbh I was annoyed while writing so although I'm not the best at grammer, that's the reason it's a bit gobbledy, and thx Yorkie for the support.

Btw one of the ppl that set me off has replied to me in a thread, it's moved on now, he now accuses me of bad mouthing just about every 999 service and all the forces, as I've stated in the reply for him, I've only bad mouthed one set of ppl and that is the political ones who started the war's in the 1st place.
