...or you could avoid being ripped off for £7.50 for 30ml of what is probably Isopropyl Alcohol (Isopropanol) which you can get from Maplin in a 400ml aerosol for just under the same price - or £10.99 for a litre aerosol.

Isopropyl Alcohol is one of the best things to clean a MAF and I bet that's all that is in that pump spray being sold at a hugely inflated price.

Get yourself over to Teesside Park or Linthorpe Road and save yourself a bundle.

Very easy, you don't need a how 2.

I use this when I cleaned mine but I can order at work so it's FOC.

Just disconnect the plug, undo the jubilee clips of the hose and take the section out with the MAF in. You can leave it in situ and just spray it with the IA. If you get the aerosol, just give it a bit of a distance from the MAF before you spray as it'll be a bit more forceful than a pump spray. Just give it a spray on both sides and see how that works. If it's really dirty then you can take the MAF out and let it soak for a bit in some IA sprayed into a jar etc.

i have always used carb cleaner when cleaning my MAF sensors on all my cars. you can pick this up in halfords or even a pound shop. Any alcohol cleaner should be ok as it cleans and then evaporates.

Clean the air box and perhaps change the filter while you are there. I was shocked at the amount of small leaves in the air box.

Can anyone post a pic of a "dirty" MAF sensor so I can compare mine?

Now don't all go running outside in the cold just to please me

Being ignorant, why do you need to clean the MAF sensor as it's something I've never considered doing?
