Default mastic job between bumper & wing

Was washing the car the other day and noticed there is what looks like some white mastic between the front bumper and wing (near the corner of bumper) probably about an inch or two long and slightly inset so as to not be that noticeable, either it's a previous owner or Vx botch job, anyone else seen this before?

Funnily enough I 've washed this car a few times since I've had and never noticed it, however this last time I was using the MiracleDry wash , excellent stuff if you don't want to use water, it washes and polishes the car and I have to say the polish in this liquid seems better than a lot of stuff I've used in the past!!, anyway, so I was paying a little more attention I think, to all the nooks and crannies as it were and hence noticed it.

Looking at it again I'm now beginning to wonder if it's also part of a locating lug for bumper to wing? Anyway here's a pic if you can make it out!!
