Default "Credit Suisse, Aston Martin, HSBC and Halfords "

Credit Suisse, Aston Martin, HSBC and Halfords were announcing job cuts so close to Christmas...

Credit Suisse said it is cutting around 650 UK jobs, while Aston Martin said it was planning to axe up to 600 full-time and temporary jobs because of the downturn in the world economy...

HSBC said it will reduce its UK workforce by around 500 following a review of the business and "current economic conditions."

Halfords has announced plans to shed around 250 jobs due to the impact of the economic downturn..

This is looking very blick indeed, I really feel for the employees that will be losing their jobs; especially so close to Christmas...

It must be very hard, to explain to their children ;why father christmas will not be visiting this year

As my friends stated the other day, that it is going to get worse before it gets better...

People are losing their homes and jobs, as my best friend mentioned; keep hold of your properties; as it is going to get harder to get back on the mortgage ladder

I work for Rolls-Royce and they're cutting too.

It looks set to get worse next year " in 2009 it will be necessary to implement job reductions across the various sectors and functions of around 1,500 to 2,000 "

So far, I'm lucky to be unaffected, but can't help but worry for friends and family in very difficult situations this Christmas.

Sorry to hear that, it seems a lot of the car manufacturers are in trouble and there is a lot more to come...

I totally agree, it is going to be very hard for families; to keep there homes and to feed themselves

Some companies may well use it as an excuse to reduce staff, even though they are not being too badly affected.

Jaguar have announced 850 job loses.
Ford have put Volvo up for sale (although a buyer is not in sight yet).

SAAB and Volvo have approached the Swedish Gov't for a cash helping hand. . . . .

Think this credit crunch/downturn in business is down to the media and poiltians, doesn't seem to be as bad as they make out,ppl are still spending money while other ppl are losing their job's......

I think these companies are laying ppl off to stop themselves going under or making a loss in the future,in 6 months time i reckon we'll wonder what all the fuss is about.......!!!!!
