Air Filters

I have had a Cone filter in for the passed 6 months now and the sound is well starting to get to me.

Was thinking about going back to Vauxhalls paper filters and if changed every 6k will they give decent performance or am I best going for K N panel filter?

I used to have a Panel filter on my Diesel but I kept getting this High pitched whistling noise it was very loud and anoying?

will I get the same on a Petrol?

i know what you mean about the cone filter, was great snorting around for a while but then the noise really starts to become annoying.
i have a 2.2 direct and use a courtney sport panel filter, i find it a lot better and is almost silent.

Even K&N only claim a 20.7 bhp increase on a 500BHP BMW M5!

But the choice is yours.

Personally I was a little bit shocked at the number of insects etc that managed to get trapped/stuck in the creases of the K&N after only a short period of having fitted it during the summer,and also there seemed to be clear daylight in some parts of the filter when held up to the sun!

Back to standard now!

Well I have to say replaced cone filter on sat with a standard paper filter and ahhhh so nice no stupid noise and just smooth acceleration and i have not lost any power so

i have K&n panel filter on mine with a de-restricted box and short gsi pipe etc....made no difference at all. if anything i have lost torque at low revs
