    Default VHS to DVD

As the title suggests, has anyone managed to find a way of transfering their old VHS videos to DVD on the computer. I have just ordered a Leadtek WinFast TV2000XP Expert capture card, but I don't know whether I will need additional software to do this. I have NERO 6 Ultra Edition, so I think that may do it. Any advice welcome guys and gals

If you have NeroVision in that suite then that will grab video. Microsofts own one - Moviemaker - built into XP will also do it. I'd expect the card will come with some software as well?

Unless you're doing some real fancy stuff, you're probably going to be with fine with what you have already.

Thanx Duncan. i have got NeroVision, and the card comes with, IIRC, 3 different software progs. I think it will just be a case of trial and error to find the best method.

    Yep, trial and error indeed.

Just had a look at the spec for that card on the Leadtek site - nice card! You'll see the software it comes bundled with as well.

I assume your VCR has either S-Video or composite video output and separate audio outputs?

My video has indeed got all those facilities. It is a Panasonic Video player and is quite top of the rangy. Don't know what model it is though. Going off to have a look at the site you put the link on for

I was considering one of these cards but in the end decided on a standalone DVD recorder, transfers are simple and I can then chuck the disc in the PC and do whatever editing or messing around I need to. Great for putting titles on old home movies and distributing around the family.

    Check out

This is great site for anything analogue to digital. It can answer just about anything you can think of. I've used it at length for VHS to DVD and Vinyl to CD conversion.
