    Default speed limiter/cruise control

    Guys,

got a couple of questions about cruise control.

was in a laguna which had a speed limiter, once it reached a certain speed it did not go any faster - is this a feature of the vectra?

also, ive read in the manual about being able to set a defined speed on the cruise control but all i can seem to do is speed increase decrease and cancel.

    anyone got any more info,,,,

Not entirely sure I know what you mean, but you set the 'defined' speed by accelerating to the speed you require (say 60mph) and whilst holding it at that speed on the acc. pedal just press the set button for the CC on the indicator stalk, then remove your foot from the pedal. Is that what you were after? HTH.

maybe i havent been clear, but sorta two different questions.

    * can i set a maximum speed for the car?
    * can i set the cruise control so that if im sitting at 50 on the motorway in 6th i can press a button and itll accelerate to 80 and stay there?

No. To get to 80 in your example you'd need to accelerate with the pedal and press set again at 80 - or press the stalk button repeatedly to get you up to 80.

Yes you can preset a speed and get the car to accellerate/decellerate to that speed.
You need to travel at the speed required, then switch on cruise control. Turn it off again by pressing the large button. It will then remember that speed. If you then slow down, and switch on cruise control by pressing the bottom button, it will accellerate to the previously set speed.

    Hope this helps

Just realised after pacarher's answer that your question can be (mis)interpreted two ways!

I thought you were asking whether you could be sat at 50 on cruise control, and then click a button to go to 80 (having somehow preset that speed). If you were meaning can you sit at 50 (by 'manual' means) and then go to 80 by cruise control then pacarcher has answered that perfectly.

Agreed that it can be interpreted in more than one way

A little expansion on how the CC works, You have the + and - buttons, when using these to turn CC on the top (+) button will switch the CC on and hold the vehicle at the current speed, using the bottom (-) button to turn on CC will take the car to the speed set the last time CC was used (except if the ignition has been turned off, in which case it will set the current speed). Whilst CC is on, pressing the + or - will increase or decrease the speed by a little over 1mph per press, hold the button in and the speed will increase or decrease continuously until you release the button. Pressing the off button, depressing the clutch or brake pedals will all turn CC off.
