How low do you dare go?

Whilst driving the Zafaira 150 cdti that i have whilst i wait for my new Vectra to be delivered. I got the range to read 9 miles left in the tank.

The questions is what is the lowest you've dared to go?

0 regulaly. I wait until the fuel light is flashing before filling up.

Mine doesn't have the range facility.
When the fuel warning flashes, how much is left? I've done 20 miles with it flashing before I have reached a petrol station. Not sure how much further it would have gone.

Had it down to 4 whilst searching for a petrol station!!

There should be two gallon left when the light comes on.

Light comes on and the range reads 30 miles.... If there is 2 gallons then in a CDTi there should theoretically be 90 miles left?

The question he is has anyone put this to the test.

Just to be on the safe side I would work the remaining distance out on the "town driving" consumption ie the lowest, then hope the wife can push the car for a while,

I've taken mine down to zero on a couple of occasions, but only ever managed to squeeze 55 litres into the tank - implying that there must be a 5 litre / one gallon reserve. (61 litre tank)
