    Default An Appeal

When I joined this club, I thought I was joining a grown up like minded club, where people make friends with like minded enthusiasts, and that has been the case for most of the time.

What I have seen over the last few weeks (posssibly months) is this club go downhill with the constant backbiting that has unfortunately become common place all to recently.

Granted, everybody has their own opinion, but this has always been a place where opinion's were placed and shared, not rammed down people's throats, and if somebody didn't agree, then it was put across in a non-argumentative manner.

Unfortunatley this is not the case anymore, so I am pleading, for the sake of the club in general that this stops, and the constant digging can give way to how things used to be, and make this a pleasant place to be again.

    I don't agree.........

I like a lively debate / chat myself, rather than the bland...

"I've put air in my tyres tonight",
"Oh, what kind of air's that then M8",
"Atmosphere type M8 from a Texaco garage in Nether Wallop"
"I only use mountain air myself, but I respect your decision to use city air M8"
"I get less punctures using Optimax air M8"
    .... ad nauseum

Well, I disagree with both of you. Don't know why, just do!

Seriously though, the only place I've seen it get silly is in the diesel tuning bit. I think I've kissed and made up with everyone I've had a cyber-tiff with.

I've not seen any 'backbiting' since that strange chap who threatened to report us all for being racist and sexist. On the whole, this is one of the best forums I've been on.

Then again, I don't go anywhere near the 'orrible black stuff threads!

Totally agree with you Basil, that we need to get this club back to how it was. To be fair it's only a few members (me included) that have dragged it down. I won't go into why I felt it necessary to defend some people and some comments, as the people involved know why. As you know I was here from the start and even though I'm no longer an admin on here I still see it as my baby, as it were.

There's a few members on here now who have a financial interest in posting certain comments and this has wound me up a little. But I'm over it! It's just one of those things I guess. There's a lot more I could type on how things got started and how they progressed to the level that they are but it would only start another 'debate'.

I appreicate Basils comments to some degree and when we first started the forum it was a very 'nice' place. Over the months more members join and as with all forums theres the odd argument starting or personality clash. From an admin point of view, especially us, as we are relativily new to roles as admin, its a lot harder job to do than i think any of us anticipated. The learning curve is quite steep!. We dont want to come across as over moderating things, but then when an argument starts brewing its knowing when to bring it to a halt, and the best way to do that.

The majority of clashes does seem to be localised to the diesel tuning section and with the spurt in tuning box sales across the industry its bound to happen.

All i can say is, we are fully aware that we do have the odd problem, and we are taking steps to try and get things clamed down. We cant promise the perfect forum but we will do our best, with members help, to keep it a friendly place.

Andy and Team - Think you are doing a grand job!

there is always going to be differences of opinion (especially if it involves £!) Ive missed this one because I dont have a deisel!

Im a member of a number of aviation forums and there has been huge amounts of childlike behavure on one which led to the 'ring leaders' - a 'clique' - going off and starting their own forum - which was a shame because it was really good!

I pretty much ignore any diesel-related threads, being a petrol head. All the threads I've read seem moderate enough.
