I have heard of this happening before (hear all sorts of things like this in my job) so I never leave the car while its warming up.
If I were him Id be gutted: Insurance probably wont pay out as he left the keys in and the engine running!!![]()
It's something we all do without thinking. I suppose it's a sign of the times.![]()
Not done this with my C but did with my B just use the spare key to dead lock it again while you go in the house..... or get a cheap car cover cut it to size to just go over the top half of the car ie windows found that worked really well.....
Going back inside while the car warms up??! - must be a 'Southern Softies' thing!!!!!
I just get in and drive off, and freeze my a**e off until the hot air kicks in. Although the heated seats do help a bit!!
Seriously though, I just can't believe people do that and then are surprised when they come out and the cars gone!!! It's like people who leave the keys in the ignition when they go and pay for petrol - what do they expect!!??
Also, as Ceejay says, the manual says not to leave it idling to warm up.
D
But im guessing that most people do this to clear the car windows of ice rather than warm the inside.... trying to join the M27 at 70mph with half inch of ice on the screen makes for an interesting drive to workOriginally Posted by Ceejay

Lol, yeah I can't believe anyone in this day and age would do that, and yeah, you would be totally screwed insurance wise, your certificate wouldn't be worth the paper it is written on !!!
