Copper grease!,as said in other threads slap it on all contact surfaces (except friction face) and the squealing will disappear.
THATS GREAT BUT WERE DO I SLAP IT ON
Anywhere two metal surfaces meet, caliper to the carrier, pad to caliper spring clip, pad to carrier, the rear of both pads, the slider pins and the large spring clip on the face of the caliper,HTH.
having same problem with my new brakes, do you have to remove them to put the copper grease in or just slap around?
cheers
pop the wheels off an put some on the
back of pads
slide bolts
an on the runners for pads
?Did you grease the back of the pads when you fitted them ..if not this is the usual cause of brake squeel...do not slap copper grease all over the place..you only need a smiggen at back of pads..you risk contaminating pads if you over use.
Oh and also some makes of pads are more prone to squeeling than others.
the cheaper, budget pads tend to squeal more then genuine Vx parts. If the squealing's only started since changing brakes, you need to get some copper grease on the backs of the pads.
In case you didn't realise - brake squeal is caused by high frequency vibration between the metal parts of the pads and the calipers. The grease just damps this vibration and so eliminates the noise
Some premium brand also squeal due to the hardness of the friction material.
Copper slip is good, but silver slip is even better with much higher temperature resistance limits, but it's about 10x the price.
