    Default ChipsAway -good people!

As I may have mentioned a while ago, some plonker scraped the rear bumper on my car in B&Q's car park.
The Chipsaway man came yesterday to fix it, and I'm very pleased. Not only can you not see where the scrape was, but he turned up on time, charged the quoted price, and gave me no hassle at all.
    Excellent job, excellent people.

Yeah they are good, we use them at work.

However, remember that they do a 'local repair' or a 'Smart style repair'. It sometimes won't come out quite as good as it would at a proper bodyshop. Also, don't mop it after as chances are the repair will come off! They often are quicker and cheaper though.

Yep, me too - exactly same experience. Some kind soul scraped my rear bumper in a car park. Got ChipsAway guy round (he's also a friend which helps!). Did a cracking job - you would never know that there had been any damage there whatsoever.

Phil - what sort of money was it, if you don't mind me asking? I reversed off a mates driveway at the weekend and scraped the passenger corner of my rear bumper against his drivers rear corner. His is a lexus Is200. I've tried T cut but the scrape isn't covering. As it's lease and due back within weeks I want to get it done instead of take the chance Vauxhall will sting me for a whole bumper! Any advice? Got Autoglass coming tomorrow for a stonechip thats spreading - whats next eh - comes in three's don't it????

I'm sure for certain repairs a bodyshop will be better - but all I can say is that for the sort of car park scrape I got I couldn't see how a bodyshop could've down any better a repair - and as you said they're cheaper as well.

They should tell you (told me anyway) not to wash it for a couple of days to allow the lacquers etc to fully harden and set.

Oh no, they must be left a good while to harden.

Usually if I get a car in thats had a local at some stage, under the spot lights they often show and a different approach is needed. Only on the odd occasion have I not seen them until its too late!

All I ment was, if anyone does want to get their car mopped at some stage after a local, its best to bring it to their attention or it may just be removed.
