    Unhappy Rear Tailgate

I currently Have a Vectra SRI CDTI 150 Hatchback

When it has been raining the water gathers on the rear window as it should but when i open the boot lid the water runs off the edge of the rear window and into the boot of the car soaking the carpet.
I have contacted my local Vauxhall dealer and they say that no parts are missing off the rear window but i think there should be something on either edge to prevent this from happening.

    Any Suggestions??

Have a look at this thread. The problem/remedy is only listed as a Signum one (I had mine fixed as it was really pi**ing me off) but maybe there is an issue with the Vec C's as well? May be worth talking to your dealer again and quote that FR number.

this happens to my vectra aswell, it's very annoying an di know eventually the water is going to foul the parts of the boot area it lands on, whether it be discolouration or stains. I did wonder whether the FR1710 would be applicalbe to the vectra.

Has anyone been to a dealer and asked for them to cure the problem using the same method as for the signum??

BTW - In order to reduce/eliminate any water getting into the boot area i always switch the car on and run the rear windscreen wiper a few times, pain in the a$$ but at least it stays dry on the inside

Thanks for the advice, will speak to my loacl Vauxhall dealer tomorrow and update you. I did contact Vauxhall direct via e-mail and this is the reply i got.

"I was sorry to learn of your concern with the boot lid, and can appreciate your reasons for contacting us.

We constantly review customer requirements, taking into account the feedback we receive from our customers and dealerships alike. Vehicles are designed considering what the majority of our customers expect, and we aim to achieve a specification which meets our customers’ expectations, and which is competitive when compared to its rivals.

There are many factors that go into the design of a vehicle, which are taken into account by our engineers. When designs are at the blueprint and computer design stage, the designers have to meet a compromise between vehicle aerodynamics and all the technical aspects. There will, however, always be areas that are open to constructive comments, and feedback such as yours is of a great help to us in planning for the future."

Yep, really gets on my tits as well, annoys the dog even more *lol* Have seen it discussed a few times but with no result, I am less concerned about the boot carpet than the contents of the boot. Wouldn`t want a few pints of water running onto a laptop ! I reckon it is a design fault we will have to live with, will be interested to see if they have done anything to prevent it on the facelift as it has the same derrier .

Spoken to my local Vauxhall dealer today, they have never had this problem before but upon speaking to the bodyshop they said that they have had similar problems on other models where some of the glass sealant was missing.
They are going to call me with an appointment in a couple of days,

    Keep you updated.

Have spoken to my local bodyshop and they say that no sealant is missing underneath the window and the boot lid is not bent. They can not offer any futher advice or help and basically said that i'll have to put up with it as its a design fault.

Will have to be careful when opening the boot!!!

I also have this problem and I too have tried to get something done about it, and I too have been fobbed off with the design fault excuse.

Personally I think it is very poor that VX are unwilling to do anything about it when it is such a common problem.

Maybe we could all join forces and contact VX in the hope of obtaining a solution.

My Local Vauxhall Garage who have been excellent does not have a bodyshop, i've told them the reply i got from the Bodyshop and they recommended that i try a different one in an attempt to get the matter resolved.

Am going to try one in Ripley, update you soon.
