    Mileage : 3000

Default Replace the Vec C GSi with an Insignia

    Which one though.

Looking to replace the GSi soon and really want to buy an Insignia, but it has to tow a 1250kg caravan also. I know the sensible option is a 2.0CDTi, but the problem is the missus will use it for school run and work which is about 3 miles max about 4 times per day. Had problem with a Zaffy B years ago with DPF issues.
Question is can the DPF be removed and mapped out or am i best going petrol.
Looking at torque figures if petrol it would have to be VXR only.
Does anyone tow a caravan and what is it like

I went from a 2.0 turbo to a tourer CDTi yesterday, so not done many miles in it yet 300 odd?
Plenty of torque for overtaking and there are a few guys who tow over on insignia enthusiasts and they get decent mpg with them too I think?
Obv if you can afford it but a vxr but sadly 15-20 k per year meant diesel for me..
Anyways, nice cars to chew the miles up, decent mpg so far and plenty of go in it too..

Would a standard V6T elite not have enough torque? I'd be very supprised if not.

Does the 220bhp Insignia 2.0T not have enough torque? Or once remapped? Lot less tax than the 2.8s

He means running 3 miles trips would soot the DPF faster.

Could be a concern IMHO. I'm driving a lot in town because of my job and my intake is always very dirty, mainly because of the EGR, but it's a good hint at what the exhaust looks like.

My wife works out of the town, so she almost only drives on the road and her 2.0 DTi zafira intake stays almost as clean as if the engine was new from factory.

I'm glad I don't have a DPF. Could really be a problem otherwise. Better collect all possible information about the CDTi Insignia and what can be done before buying.

I've read the later insignias have the DPF moved closer to the block, thus allowing them to be hotter and regenerate better/more efficiently? Not sure how accurate this is, but time will tell for me anyways..ha

As far as im aware this was the design from day one on all the latest generation vx diesels, they obviously learnt from the likes of the Vecs C's and Astra H's where it was further down the exhaust.
