Default Fuel economy Insignia diesel 160hp manual round 2011

    hi all

Hoping someone out there can help will some "real world" fuel economy figuires on the diesel insignia..
I am contemplating jumping up to this from the vectra 1.9 120bhp as on paper the insignia has impressive economy. Allegedly up to 72mpg on the run... Has anyone any experience with this ? Preliminary research suggests the cars are nothing like the official figuires quoted..

My Auld Dears have a 10-plate 160 Sri Insignia and only get 37.7 MPG. That is mostly short runs down to the supermarket and back and I don't think they have ever reset it from new!

Lucky to get 35mpg on mine on short trips, long distance is around 55-58 Mines a 2.0 cdti 130 bhp Vauxhall figures are rubbish, they are calculated in near perfect conditions on test tracks with minimum fuel and load.

Problem is, they dont like to be anywhere near 1500 rpm, you have to give them some revs due to weight of car, and never try and take off in 2nd lol

My 160 estate gets low 50's on a run at 70 with the cruise control, drops to low/mid 40's when you add in some urban driving. It's a big heavy car but so much nicer than the Vectra...

I believe the 72mpg refers to ECOflex model CDTI 130/160's with Start/Stop Technology, published figure for non-ECOflex models is rather less. Also mpg and emissions figures have improved steadily during the life of the Insignia, as have all VX models in the last 5 years.

don't buy an auto im getting around 33mpg but must admit that is mostly 6.5 mile journeys so the car is hardly getting a chance to heat up

09 cdti sri 160 - avg over 12,000 miles 42.9 mixed driving, though I drive quite enthusiastically
IMHO you will never reach the published economy figures

I picked up a 160 tourer yesterday, on the 280 mile return journey from Newcastle on A69, M74,M8 and A83 I averaged 48mpg and was sitting on cruise @80 on motorway, plus it's very hilly where I stay...overall impressed and a cracking drive, buy one ;-)

Oh, my old 2.0 turbo averaged 33mpg on way down in same conditions/speeds etc..
