Default Something wrong! Vectra c and signum info

As i posted previously been thinking of going for a newer vectra. There was also a discussion the other day about boot space and i have come to notice some strange things about the figures

Vectra c hatchback: 1030 litres seats folded down
Vectra c Estate : 1000 litres of space seats folded down
Signum : 465 litres of space seats folded down.

Now am i the only one who thinks there is something wrong here! I thought the idea of the estate was to have a lot more space same with the signum! And what these figures are saying is that out of these 3 cars the smller one has more space. These figures were taking from parkers" and vauxhall dealership.

Now i know for a fact the signun has way more space than the hatch and the estate has more space than signum. I have had both hatch and signum. Plus the signum and estate are both 5" longer than hatch!

Certainly got more than 1000 litres of boot space in my estate with the seats down!! Probably not that far off with the seats up!!

There's no real mystery here, your figures are wrong, plain and simple. I have a copy of the Signum's Dealership Launch Guide, and it states the boot capacity is 365 litres "under luggage cover with rear seats up", and 1410 litres "to roof with rear seats down".

before I bought my Sig I was trying to compare models on the basis of boot space and basically came to the conclusion that the published numbers are often wrong and in 90% of cases not usefully comparable. There are too many plausible ways to measure this such that two reviews of the same car don't quote the same space, or may complain that one car has a tiny boot while showing numbers which seem to suggest its boot is the largest in the class.

It would at least be vaguely useful if they were to state how the figures are measured like the VX ones quoted by @Rebelion above, but the majority of sources don't give the crucial information "to the roof" or "under luggage cover"

Plus of course the shape of the space is nearly as important as the capacity. The Vec and the Sig have a lovely rectangular boot so all the space is useful, many cars have wheel arches and other lumps and bumps taking up half the space.
