    Default CDTI Battery Type/Size

Hi With the cold weather and some dodgy glow plugs seems I require a new battery as it just wont crank for long like it used too at the start of the winter...

Just wondering what battery type I should be looking for (Amp hours Cold crank amps etc...)

    Would this fit the bill:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-80Ah-700-AMPS-EXIDE-CAR-BATTERY-HEAVY-DUTY-BATTERIES-12-VOLT-/160728267782?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D1 11000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26m eid%3D6191771079003469316%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1 006%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D160924241183%26

    Thanks

Why not drop a message to check?

checked with local factors they advise 72-80Ah, circa 750 CCA

    Looks a good battery....

    Good luck!

    mon,

that isnt a bad price for a battery, when the likes of GSF want £90 for a 'cheap one' and Halfrauds want £100 not bad at all..

    good luck!

Going to order one will probably pick one up and fit in there car park to be sure , measured mine a standard vx one 32cm x 18cm x 17.5cm (w x d x h) so seems a good match to the one advertised, I'm.in a bit of a rush as I'm having to jump mine every cold start.

Battery fitted a treat , ended up getting a different Varta battery from the same people, 80AH with 800 Cold cranking amps for £60 (3 Year Warranty), they even fitted it for me when I turned up.

Battery is stickered up with Varta and a Land rover Jaguar sticker on it.

    Ebay link to battery.

Being due a new battery too thanks for this post and ebay links, having looked on ebay also come across this Varta battery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110-12V-80...item3f22240f5d at a reasonable price. Which to choose? Any recommendations?

It's actually a matter of size. I had fitted up to a 95 Ah battery in the past, but the cover couldn't close perfectly and kept the bonnet slighty lifted.

Now some manufacturers make smaller but more powerful batteries. For instance, Varta now makes 85 Ah batteries not larger than regular 75 Ah ones.

A higher capacity battery helps when you're using large audio amplifiers. And for diesel engine start, of course. You might also need a powerful enough alternator (just because a too small one might suffer charging a bigger battery), so of course, you'll fit larger batteries if you've got a diesel car, where the alternator is oversized already.

The one I got has 800 cold cranking amps vs 740, although the same price with postage doubt it makes Much difference the one you posted had 4 year warranty as oppose to the one I got with 3 years.

Maybe flip a coin ? The dimensions of the one you posted should fit.

My personal rule - get the most powerful that will physically fit. Better to have one working at 70-80% capacity than one having to work at 95+% capacity.
