My car failed its mot for a few things, one being the handbrake recording little or no effort on N/S.
Refurb calipers are £130, not too keen on second hand either so thinking about a refurb kit?
Anyone ever done it?

Yes matey, parts are available, may, only may, have the parts here somewhere, you can buy the kit online too. when I did my conversion I found a thread gone for the bleed nipple on a rear 292. if you go into a dealership and ask for a recon one and if they dont have one, they will send out a new one for half the price iirc...
what model is yours matey...
found the kits on ebay.
Is the caliper refurb an easy job to do? Im pretty handy with the spanners, just need to know if any specialist tools are needed?
just a rewind tool for the piston, the piston seals go in no problem, just put a smear of brake fluid on them to lubricate, its the dust seal from the piston to the caliper that can be a pain...
its an 04 1.9 cdti sri,
no special tools needed for the handbrake mechanism? I believe the lever the handbrake cable sits in has seized
Here is a refurb kit, not sure how price compares to what youve found ....
is that £60 for a refurbed caliper????
If it is, Ill be buying that!!
I think they are new matey...
£60 if you have solid rear discs
£65 if you have vented matey, bit cheaper than you were expecting eh, you tried Euro car parts or not...
pretty sure theyre solid but Ill double check tomorrow. Eurocar parts were also around £130
Motor failed on a lot of things, 2 tyres, power steering leak, rear caliper, rear arb bushes, rear rose bushes, front springs broken so every saving I can find helps.
Thanks very much for that link, youve saved me at least £60 plus that hassle of a refurb!! Much appreciated.
