I had a similar problem i had fog light warning pop up and mine worked but then after a while they worked intermittently, i got under neath and wiggled the wires and the bulbs would flicker on and off which made me think i had a problem with my wiring which i was going to buy brand new connectors, my fix was a trip to halfords bought new bulbs has i broke one lol and that cured the problem it seemed that the bulbs were at fault as they were on there last legs.

pip, do your dash warning go out if you put the bulbs on, then when you turned the fogs off the warning would come back?

Bulb resistance can change prior to it finally giving up the ghost. Sometimes it's enough to trigger the bulb failure warning.
