Default Brake pads for police vehicles???

Just browsing for pads for my Signum 3.2. I know it has the bigger discs so needs mintex MDB2764.

I've always found buypartsby to be a good, cheap online parts supplier so I look and I find them there but I also find some other pads the exact same size apart from being 0.5mm thinner, 4 quid cheaper but the description says "for police vehicles".

    http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/buy/VAUX...on/brake-pads/

What's that about then? Why wouldn't I just buy them and save myself four quid? I doubt 0.5mm makes any difference.

I assume they are like a Sport pad, to help cope with pursuits etc, less feedback when cold, but better fade resistance.

Can you double check your link ? Which of the 3 sets showing are the police spec ones ?

Let me know if you get them matey, I only fitted one set of police spec brakes in my VecB, they lasted my ownership of the car

Yeah I know mate, what I want to know is what makes them different and can I use them and save myself four quid? I did a bit more digging and they seem to be interchangeable, if you look at the cross ref table here:

I actually preferred to stay to the reasonable 314 mm rather than the 345 I could buy instead because of the discs (I wanted grooved and drilled) and pads availability, or at least, comon availbility (and seller's will to ship abroad )

Always good to have clues to part numbers and possible sellers, though.

Aye, lol, I just figured out who you were talking to. Curse this complicated interweb thing.

I think I don't want harder pads or pads that take a while to warm up, I only do short journeys mostly so I need braking straight away. I'd also imagine uprated pads like these would be harder on the discs and wear them out quicker.
