    Default Alternator or not?

While driving today I noticed some differences in my 2004 Vectra CDTi 150.

Firstly, it was ticking over higher @ 1000 revs when at traffic light.

Stopped at the garage for diesel and it struggled to start as if the battery was low.

A few miles later, the ABS light and TC light came on and went off.

I was on the motorway so quickly turned all electrics off and managed to get to a Halfords. Turned it off then tried to start it again. Nothing.

Bought a battery and it fired right up and got me home.

Looked under the bonnet as I changed the EGR valve the other day just to see if Id knocked a plug off but, no.

I believe the alternator is at fault but theres no battery light illuminating on the dash? Not even lit dimly.

Could it still be the alternator or perhaps something else? Ive never had any problems with the battery, always starts with no effort so it couldnt be it thats just completely died.

I would be 99% certain the alternator is dead .

my alternator packed up and i had no warning lights, just started to struggle to start and then not at all, had it checked and was not sending any charge. simple job for the pros, only at the garage for an hour or so. I got my own part and cost me £40 to fit it.
