EGR working or not??

Hi all,

After all the problems with my car and after the really good clean out I gave it all seems well now except for......

.......When cold it drives/boosts very cleanly and pulls very well, when it gets warm it seems to drop off on the boost slightly, still much better than it was but there is still a small noticeable lag in power, it now after cleaning seems more intermittent than constant.
My question is.....

My EGR is blanked off now but when I cleaned it initially the pin in the solenoid side was stuck in and I had to free it off with wd40,.......if the solenoid/electrical bit on the EGR was not working properly would this affect the boost or engine performance even though the Egr is blanked off?

I have brought an OBDII and got loads of codes popping up when I plugged it in (stupid and didnt write them down!),I cleared them all and all I have now is the spanner through the engine light on the dash but no fault codes are being logged......could this be that I have blanked the EGR off?

Spanner light is likely to be for the blanked EGR, this should go out and leave the emissions light on. I reckon you need to clean the boost sensor, as if your EGR was pretty gunked up, this will be too (it sits on the back of the manifold to the left of the EGR - held in by one torx bolt).
