Default Yeeehaw, what to do first?

Just got my Vectra VVT SRi home after a short half hour drive. Initial impressions are pretty good, only problem is that the previous owner must have been a lady with lots of diamond rings! Never noticed it on the test drive but the windscreen and drivers window are scratched to pieces. I can put up with it for now but i will have to get them pollished out or replace the glass.
Whats the first thing i should do to the car? I have seen the airbox mod, but does it really make that much difference?
Towbar and electrics will be fitted in the next couple of weeks along with a home made cycle carrier i am halfway through fabricating. I know i can buy one but in my spare time i enjoy welding, fabrication and machining. I have a wee lathe, milling machine and two mig welders so why spend 200 quid when i can make one for 25 quid in materials!

Airbox mod and panel filter. Smooths out the engine, especially on take off.

Welcome aboard mate from one scots member to another, the 1.8 vvti is not a bad engine,my wife's Astra twintop has it fitted ,I've modded air box on it by basically drilling loads of holes underneath and it doesn't make any difference to performance IMO,just makes a manic induction roar when you hit roughly 4.5 k revs ,very childish but fun all the same lol

The airbox mod looks.a simple one to start with. I think next one will be uprated springs as i have heard the originals can be quite weak? I will be towing trailers of firewood and the occasional caravan and if the springs are indeed weak it would make sense to get them done before they go. Wont be doing anything major as it is more of a familly car, boring I know, but i have my wee vitara to play with so i will be keeping the vectras mods to useful more than fun.

Welcome mate,I would recomend uprating the springs if you are going to be doing a fair bit of towing.
