Default Complete power steering loss..... Vectra C 1.8 petrol

    Hi all,

Need a bit of advice, wife was driving the car today and experienced complete power steering loss, she was trying to park the car at the time and the only way she could get it to work again was to turn the ignition off and restart the car, I have driven the car this evening not knowing about the steering loss as she had forgotten to tell me so after I got back I looked to see if there where and codes stored, below where the codes stored, I know these are fresh as I had replaced the thermostat a few weeks ago and cleared all codes at the time. Now when I drove the car I had no issues and this is the first time this has occurred. Pump speed and amps are within range, battery has good voltage and no issues with power. As you can imagine I don't want this to happen when the kids are in the car so want to ensure all is good. After reading the codes I have cleared them to see if they will reoccur (hope not!!)

Well you have checked the usual suspects, I would have a quick look at the power steering fluid level. Other than that it was maybe just the ECU having a moment. You can reset the ecu with "you know what", or just unbolt the battery for half an hour.
