I hope it is only the battery. But my car wouldn.t start today. There was just a loud clicking noise as if the starter bendix was trying to flick in. Lights came on on the dashboard. Starter did not turn over at all. Original battery . 9 years old. Will try a jump start when I get home.

9 years is a very good run for a battery tbh my dads original gm in his has finally gone after 8 years having been sat for a few months, it seems the original gm batterys are pretty good, as for a replacement my only advise is if you can afford it buy a varta, especially the varta silver, very very very good batteries with i think a 5 year warranty

Jump started my car off my wife's car. Mine fired up immediately. Yes as suspected "duff" battery. But it has given me 9 years of first time starting. So I suppose I shouldn.t complain.
Cheers to those who took time out to answer my thread.

Not sure you will get nine years out of the next one Ed, but then again I don't suppose you care very much ..............

I got a Varta Silver in mine. It's good stuff. Just left my lights on on the car for 3hrs, just started it, fired up straight away.
