    Default Signum handbrake issue

Ok so I'm in the process off getting a new left side rear caliper but the other still works since rich unseized it.

I have found the handbrake cable guide that shows the reset part of the handbrake but it doesn't show how to get to it...

Is there any bother way to stiffen the handbrake? As it roles back on hills unless you pull it right to the top..

Also can you replace the plastic handbrake cover?

I think you just keep pumping the brakes and cranking the handbrake lever. It should tighten up.

First day I put my Signum on my driveway I had to go a retrieve it from the middle of the street 10 mins later as it had crept backwards. I have to pull the level as high as I can pull it and leave it in gear to get it to stay put. Apparently there was a recall on poor hand brake but my local dealer checked the records and told me mine has already had it :-/

Looks like a few things I could ask about when I ring.

    Vauxhall
Search results (1–3 of 3) New search
    Recall: No. 1 of 3
    Recall Ref: R/2005/166
    Exact Model: Signum and Vectra
Description: Rear axle hub may not be to specification
    VIN: SIGNUM - 00000006*102*5432 to 00000006*103*6596, VECTRA - 00000006*102*5432 to 00000006*103*6596
    Build Date:
    Numbers: 783
Defect: The hardening process applied to the rear wheel bearing inner ring may be incorrect. There is a possibility that a rumbling noise may become apparent, which if not checked could in extreme circumstances result in the detachment of the hub and severely impaired road holding/handling.
Action: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the date stamp on the rear wheel hubs. Where necessary, replace the hub bearing assembly.
    Launch Date: 17 December 2005

    Recall: No. 2 of 3
    Recall Ref: R/2008/014
Exact Model: Vectra C & Signum
    Description: HANDBRAKE MAY PARTIALLY RELEASE
    VIN: 21017709 to 71106592
    Build Date: 1/1/02 to 31 Dec 07
    Numbers: 236284
Defect: Following a small number of complaints of Vauxhall Vectra and Signum vehicles rolling away due to allegedly defective handbrakes. Vauxhall engineers in conjunction with consultants and other bodies, have conducted rigorous testing and found that provided the handbrake is applied correctly without depressing the release button, the handbrake is perfectly safe.
Action: In line with it's priority of continuous improvement, recalled vehicles will be fitted with a modified handbrake mechanism to reduce the possibility of a partial release.
    Launch Date: 07 April 2008

    Recall: No. 3 of 3
    Recall Ref: R/2004/148
    Exact Model:
Description: Rear exhaust pipe may move backwards slipping off the front pipe
    VIN: 00000000041019521 to 00000000041133883, and 00000000041013500 to 00000000041133906
    Build Date:
    Numbers: 7572
Defect: The possibility exists that the rear exhaust pipe can move backwards and slip off the front pipe. With the possibility that under body components may become damaged.
Action: Recall affected vehicles and check likely to be affected under body areas, and install a new exhaust clamp.
    Launch Date: 05 November 2004

When applying the handbrake on vectra c and sigs you shouldn't press the button in? When it clicks it is self adjusting. Also apply the foot brake before applying the handbrake to take up any slack. Does sound a little creaky tho?

I always hold the button in that explains the poor handbrake then will try this later. Thanks.
