Default 2.0t to air box mod or not?

I'd seen the "air box mod" mentioned a lot in various threads as a cheap way to improve airflow.

My understanding is that the results of this type of mod depends heavily on the engine, so, is it worthwhile on the 2.0t? What are the pluses and minuses? And while we're at it, is a k&n or similar high flow filter a worthwhile upgrade for this engine?

I added an extra pipe from the box to the front and have a pipercross filter. Same engine

yes it is worth doing, making more cold air available means you can burn more fuel which means more power. its only towards to the top of rev range where this really useful but better airflow throughout the rev range is always a bonus..

I modified my airbox more than the how2 and published the details on here..
