Privatisation of the fire service!

Apparently plans are in place to sell off the fire service to private companies. This can only mean a decrease in fire cover and reducing safety for profit.

I can't sign the petition as I am not in command of the facts surrounding this 'possible' decision. To sign without fully understanding what I am 'opposing' would be stupid of me.
I would need to hear a balanced, honest and open debate on what it means, the benefits and the drawbacks, to be in a position to decide whether to sign it or not.

There are certain things that should never be privatized Police, NHS, Prisons, Fire Brigade, Schools any Essential service tbh, id put Water board, Electricity and Gas suppliers in that category too. Also why the RNLI is a life saving institute funded purely by volunteerism and donations is beyond me. Yet we welcome foreigners with no money, and no way to support themselves, with open arms.

its a disgrace ! will only mean one thing ... cuts in service , leading to poor delivery of service and more than likely LOSS OF LIFE !!

I agree completely. People have jumped to the conclusion that privatisation means profits first, but it also means competition that can drive improvement and high standards. I am responsible for fire safety amongst other things where I work. I am in constant communication with our local fire brigade and other people in the industry and I have heard no credible information regarding the "Privatisation" of the Fire Service.

Well if it does get privatised then they might get paid by the amount of fires they attend, expect a rise in fires!
