N/S air bags in seat and roof lining fired off today for no reason, anyone know whats involved in replacing them and what else has to be done, also dont want them to go off again as soon as I turn on ignition.

im not too sure, but i think its just a case of buying new air bags and plugging it in? but you have to do some programming with tech2. i would probably get your codes read first to see what caused it in the first place? maybe check if any of the sensors have been triggered/tampered with?
Update folks, replaced both airbags and sensor today, interesting thing though air bag system checks out on turning on ignition then airbag light goes out this is without having anything done to computer,is that right.
It would probably check airbag system to Be sure their mist have been a reason for them to fire.
Where you doing any wiring or anything?
nope, just went to start car,m8 what I dont understand is after bags went off, warning light stayed on,on dashboard as expected, after repairs module did not have to be reset as everybody says it does,
That is very strange. I have had both scenarios where the aigbag light stays on after repairs, and the airbag light going off.
The first accident I had the passengar air bags go off from a car driving in to me, probably at about 10mph. I replaced the bags and had no crash data on the ECU.
The second accident was this winter where I slid into another car sideways again at about 10mph, come to think of it, maybe about 20mph including the speed of the other car. The Drivers seat bag and curtain airbag went off.
I replaced the airbags and found the crash data on the module was actually locked this time, so I am having to remove the ecu and actually reprogram the EEPROM chip inside it.
Personally, I think the crash data should have been input the first time as it's under the diagnostic "Airbag squib system Activated". I have no idea why it locked the ECU out the second time, an absolute nightmare to say the least.
I have a feeling crash data is only put on the ECU and locked if it sensed a dramatic change in G-Force. The lady driving into me was actually MUCH less severe than me elegently gliding along the ice in to another moving car. So this is how I drew that conclusion.
I suggest finding someone with opcom just to have a look to see what was actually recorded when the bags went off. If the Initial ECU check lights up the Airbag light, which then turns off afterwards, then that's generally the system saying all is OK so I don't think you've got anything to worry about, but you really should get it checked by a mate with op-com, or get it yourself.
Moisture in the plug can set them off or possibly voltage spikes from the Airbag Control Module. They need electricity to detonate, if it happens again, you must change your airbag module as thats more than likely what's at fault here. If there's no data on the ECU, definitely change it, it should not be firing airbags off with no record.
