    Default Body control unit

I have been informed that my front wipers have stoped because the BCU has failed,is this unit likely to be responsible for the alarm going off when it feels like it?
    Cheers

I'm not sure the BCU has much to do with the wipers.
    In the engine fusebox, try checking F5, F11, F14, F22, & F34.
However the wiper motor itself can have a fault with the self park earth connection.
    Good Luck with sorting it.

Wipers I would put down to either motor at fault or cim fault

as for alarm it it could be a number of things. Window sensors and ultra sonic sensors being most common

    Column Interface Module.
It's the canbus module that interfaces the steering column controls to the rest of the car.

Haha, Yes, they do use wires still. Very thin ones usually.

And they also do things like having resistors in the switches.
For example a Electric Window switch which when pushed to, say, open the window is earthed via a resistor which drops the 12v on the wire to, say, 9v.
To close the window the same wire is earthed via a different resistor and this drops the voltage to, say, 4.5V.
And all this is controlled by the individual Door module which is also on the Canbus network.

And there is a lot more.

When you push the brake pedal it sends a signal to the REC in the boot and this module tells the individual bulbs to light up.
The brake light switch also sends signals to the Engine Management system, whilst the REC sends signals to the Engine Management system, the ABS and the Auto Gearbox if fitted.

    Now the Headlight Switch.............................
    But you get the idea.

I work at a place making buses, the electronics would fry your head! E.g. To turn on an indicator.... Signal goes to main ecu, which sends a signal to a node at the front to tell the front indicator to flash. Meanwhile another signal goes to the rear node... So basically 3 computers to flash 2 bulbs!
