go for 235/40/18 for more options and i will have a word with my lad about prices as they are doing deals at the min....
after alot of ringing round i've decided on kuhmo's 225/40/18 ar£85 a corner fitted balanced etc.hth
I run Avon ZZ3 225/45/18. Quiet, grippy, wearing very well.

been running falken 912se in the 235/40/18 size now for over 2 years with no problems , just put 2 new ones on the fronts ,
the tyre sizes mentioned give a 15mm diameter difference which is quite a bit, the 40s appear to be somewhat cheaper.
I'm running Kumho on 45s and love them, excellent grip in both wet and dry even when down to low tread, BUT only getting about 15k out of the fronts.
I use 225/45/18's with XP2 wheels, I went for Kumho KU39 Esta Le Sport 95Y XL (mine is 3.0 CDTi)
They seem a good all round tyre, not exactly cheap but cheaper than Conti's etc
