Reluctant start, revs dipping and car with spanner light

Hey all,

Having an issue with my wifes 1.8 Z18XE 2004 SRI vectra.

When we bought it the car had a whiney fuel pump only noticible when the car is ideling. Other than this it was as tight as a nut and runnign great.

On wednesday this week it was a bit reluctant to start and the revs kept dipping when being driven to the point it would almost stall then climb back up again. My wife managed to get it home (3 mile journey) with this issue happening the full way. I then took the car out to see what the fault was but it did not seem to have any issue. It was running great again.

This issus has been getting progressivly worse over the last few days. Again it is reluctant to start if it has been sitting for a while. Once it's going ti runs great wiht no issues. The car and spaner light has poped up on the LCD display for a few seconds when it is having the issues but quickly clears.

The car is presnelty in need of a service (I am not sure when the last one was done so oil chance, plugs, fule filter need done. I have already done the pannel filter and pollen filter.

I have run my code reader onthe car and include the output test below. Some of the faults are old ones (I think) from when the SMD conversion etc was done. I have since cleared them and will run the test again tomorrow to see if any new faults pop up.

Any thoughts guys and girls on what I should be looking for or looking to fix on the car?

Do I start the car then unplug the maf or do I unplug the maf then start the car? IF it's working what should happen and if its not working what should happen?

Start it mate leave maf plug in then once it's running unplug it see if there's any change go try it the report Bak lmao

Just tried it. Started a bit reluctantly but after a second or so it burst into life. No spaner flash on the screen.

Unpluged the maf and the res seemed to fluctuatle and the emisions light came on the dash.

Ran the code reador on it and got this...

would that only cause an isseu when the engine is cold and not userd for a while?

When the engine is warm its running like a dream.

I had wondered if it was the fuel pump finaly giving up the goast causing lack of presure when turning over?

We bought it in the summer and it was meant to have been serviced as part of the sale although I am not conviced of this as the oil is very dirty etc.

Do you think a plugs, fule filter and oil;d change could imprve the situation?

Just tried starting the car after it has sat all night. It was very reluctant to start and has put the car with the spasner light on the dash. Revs seemed to be fluctuating up and down also. Put the code reader on and it has listed this fault...

So I am guessing it's the crank sensor which is out. OR at the very least it is part of the problem. Going to get the car to Vauxhall tomorrow and get them to check it over. It needs a service anyway so will get that done at the same time.

Are crank sensors expencive to replace?
