Recently PX'ed a 54 Vectra 1.9cdti for a brand new face lift one because of a wierd squeak when de-clutching on changing up from 2-3 and 3-4.
Imagine my grief when discovering the new one does the same thing! Otherwise the gearbox is better, less clunky.
Haven't taken it to dealer yet as I tried previous problem with 2 dealers and both could not hear it. You can avoid the squeak by changing very slowly and laboriously. I think it's synchro, but interestingly it seems to be better in very cold weather. One of the dealers said that Vx have had trouble getting the right oil for this box. I have seen posts about poor gearchange in cold weather, I wonder whether oil is now too thin.
Any ideas?
