Default V6 CDTi problems and cures ?sticky?

Maybe of some use to people, but here are some problems and solutions that I've had with my V6...

Squeaking / chirping sound from bottom left hand side of the engine(standing at the front of the car looking at it). Sound worse at idle and cold. Problem: worn aux belt tensioner cured by replacement.

Sooty tailpipes on DPF car (facelift model) - probably shot DPF filter, but car passed emissions test so I did nothing and kept the £1000 in my bank, thank you

Misfiring / lack of power under load / car will not rev under load. Error codes can be thrown (scary) e.g. injection system failure and the one associated with SCV failure. Problem: air in the fuel system caused by leaking joints in the fuel pipework (there is no lift pump on the V6). Observation: on opening the fuel filter canister, it is half full of fuel. Test: top the fuel filter housing up and the problem temporarily goes away. Solution: replace engine bay fuel pipework and fuel filter housing. I used flexible marine grade fuel hose (because I had some), good quality jubilee (worm drive) clips and a Racor 2 micron R20 marine fuel filter housing, scrapping all OEM pipework and fuel filter. The replacement filter was fitted where the original had been and it bolted through the bulkhead: there is access to the void behind via the scuttle tray access flap.

Poor low end response, engine seems a bit 'all or nothing' around 2000 rpm. No idea why, but the problem went away after I fitted a DTUK green box

    Feel free to add....
