I have been looking for a spare set of wheels for some winter tyres.
And it seems to be a bit of a minefield.
I have seen some alloys that say 6.5J X 16".
What does the 6.5J bit mean
What is the offset and the PCD?

6.5 J is the width. You need 5 * 110 pcd. And I think offset of 38 to 42
And bore size 65.1
Thanks for more numbers
But what are they?
16" I know, its the outer diameter of the wheel
6.5 is the width of the wheel (thanks s_zigmond)
but what does the J part mean on the width?
5 * 110 pcd ?????
offset 38 to 42 ????
bore size 65.1??
PCD. 5 is the number of bolts and 110 is the distance between said bolts
Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting plane
bore size is the hub diameter (so how big the hole in the middle of the wheel is)
Also ive always been told the J means nothing and refers to the shape of the wheel rim
PCD stands for Pitch Circle Diameter and is relative to the circular centreline of the 5 bolt holes which differs from manufacturer to manufacturer
Offset as s_zigmond said is the dimension from the face of the wheel to mounting face - I got this wrong once and my alloys sat inside the car by some 20mm!! handled like it was on ice!!
bore size is the dimension for the centre spigot hole in the wheel
OK thanks. That helps.
Is a wheel width of 6.5 OK for a Vectra C?
