    Default Spanner warning light

I have just had my manifold changed my the dealers. Thankfuly under warranty. However can anyone advise as to whether it is normal for the spanner warning light to remain on when you turn the ignition on (without starting the engine)? As soon as I start teh engine it goes out with all the other lights! The car is a 2006 1.9 CDTi 150. The dealer syas that this is normal .

    Vehicle : Vauxhall Astra-J

If it stays on until the engine is started, then a fault code is stored in memory. After a certain number of clean start ups or period of time the stored fault code will self delete.

Either get them to read out and delete the stored fault code, or just wait for it to self delete.

It's when it stays on when the engine is running that you have to start worrying.

it's indicating you had a fault that is no longer there. It will clear itself.

My EML stays on when the ignition is on and when the fault finder machine is plugged in it states no faults found. Are we sure that when on stage 2 of the ignition the EML should go out???

I take it you have no EML come on when the engine is running?
